Your kitchen isn't the problem. Your floor is.

When a restaurant starts slipping, the first instinct is to look at the plate. New dish, new chef, tighten the menu. Sometimes that's right. More often, the food was never the problem.

The silent leak

Service doesn't show up on a spreadsheet until it's already cost you. A flat greeting, a missed water refill, a check that takes eleven minutes — none of it is a line item, but all of it adds up to a guest who says nothing and simply doesn't book again.

Leadership is the multiplier

You can train a single server in an afternoon. But the standard only holds if the floor leaders hold it — at pre-shift, in the weeds, on the nights you're not there. That's the real work:

  • A pre-shift that lands instead of dragging.
  • Correcting in real time without killing morale.
  • Keeping your best people long enough to become your bench.

Fix the floor and the kitchen finally gets the room it deserves. Get the service right and everything else you've built starts to pay off.
